Theory:

We know you can change your physical and mental state through movement. This intricate yet simple idea is at the heart and the core of The Co Pilates philosophy.

The heart and core of our philosophy is inspired by the anatomy of the heart. Just like your abdominals, the heart is a muscle, and, as the saying goes, "If you don't use it, you lose it." Lack of physical activity can hurt the heart, and continuous movement, including the contraction of various muscle groups, is the medicine that keeps our bodies strong and agile.

One of Joseph Pilates’ most famous quotes is, "You're only as old as your spine." When performed in a fully equipped studio, the Pilates system of controlled, focused movements will give you freedom, despite any injuries or conditions that have impaired your mobility.

We work with you to heighten internal and external awareness of your movement through space. We communicate and collaborate to compose a personalized program that will improve our strength, flexibility, balance, and endurance - and help you feel more in control of your life.

Practice:

Introductory Phone Call: We like to have some time to talk to a prospective client, so we can get a feel for what you are looking for and discover if working with The Co Pilates would be a good fit for you. We will go over a health and activity history, goals, and any questions you may have about Pilates and a program.

First Session: We go over the five principles of Pilates and apply those principles to basic exercises, taking into account any specific issues you may have.

A Program: Each consecutive session builds from that base. With compassion and the professional’s x-ray eye we will help you identify the movements and physical habits that aren't serving you, and create new neuromuscular patterns that will help you heal and become stronger. Each session is approximately 1 hour.

Fees: Please call us at 917-674-4571 or email: brittany@thecopilates.com to discuss what program is right for you.
